On Wednesday 31st May, we had a fantastic day at the annual Cumann na mBunscol athletics event, this time held on UCD’s new running track. We had teams competing in the u12 girls and boys relays, the u14 girls and boys relays and individuals participating in the long jump, shot putt, 600m long distance and in the 60m sprint competitions. All our athletes competed excellently on the day against some brilliant opposition from all over Dublin. It was great to see the St. Attracta’s students showcasing their talents in so many areas.
Our first medal of the day was won by Ciara Lane in the 600m long distance when she came home in 3rd place after an exceptional run. This was shortly followed up with Luca Moran winning silver in the high jump. This was a fantastic achievement for Luca and our first medal in this category in a long time. After two brilliant runs, our U12 boys relay team took home bronze in a fiercely competitive final. This team consisted of Noah Nartey, Reuben Harnett, Conor Kenny, Dara Molloy and Oisin Veale. Finally, after an exceptionally close finish, our U14 girls took home silver in their relay race. This team consisted of Aoileann Kennedy, Ciara Lane, Anna Kellegher, Aoife Long and Laura Ryan. A huge congratulations to all our medal winners.
Have at look below at some photos from the day.
We are very proud of how well all our athletes competed on the day. A huge well done to you all. A huge thanks also to Ms. O’Leary, Ms. McDonagh and to Vigetta Moran who gave so generously of their time in coaching the children.
