Santry

On Wednesday May 23rd we had a fantastic day at the annual Cumann na mBunscol athletics event, held in the Morton Stadium in Santry. St. Attracta’s SNS had teams competing in the U12 girls and boys relays, the U14 girls and boys relays and individuals participating in the long jump, shot putt, 600m long distance and in the 80m sprint competitions. All our athletes competed excellently on the day against some brilliant opposition from all over Dublin.

Our first medal of the day was won by Joseph Oyekanmi who won gold in the U12 80m sprint competition. Joseph ran superbly in the final and showed wonderful acceleration in the final 30 metres to get his head across the line in first place. This is a fantastic achievement for Joseph and one he should be very proud of.

Only a few minutes later, Cara Fortune won bronze in the U14 600m. Cara ran a great race and showed fantastic determination and endurance in the last 100 metres to pick up the bronze medal. Well done Cara.

Finally, after two brilliant runs, our U12 boys relay team took home bronze in a fiercely competitive final. This team consisted of Joseph Oyekanmi, Eoghan Harney, Arthur O’Shea, Dylan Geraghty and Benji Mico Avomo. Well done to the boys and once again they should be very proud of their fantastic achievement in Santry.

A huge well done to all our athletes who represented St. Attracta’s so well on the day and a huge thanks to Ms. O’Leary, Ms. McDonagh, Ms. McCormack and Vigetta Moran who all gave of their time so generously to help prepare the children for the various events.
